Get well Peter

Peter, one of the much loved members of our Saturday running group, recently found himself in a spot of bother with a serious illness requiring urgent surgery. That's him, at left, when a few of us dropped in on him in Canberra's National Capital Private Hospital over the weekend. Unfortunately, the battle is not over for him and he will need to undergo a second round of surgery in coming weeks.

But it was just fantastic for us to see Peter looking so well. The consensus is that hospital food or an enforced lay off from running is doing him much good.

Peter, and others like him, are the heart and soul of various running groups in Canberra. He gives much and expects little in return. He makes others feel special. For me personally, it's the spirit in people like Peter that make participation in our wonderful sport such a gift.

Peter our thoughts and prayers are with you. The running calendar ahead is a busy one and you will be part of it before you know it. We love you. We want to see you back with us soon on the road, track, or trail.

Tuggeranong Don,

Thanks for the great post about Peter; I must say that he looks good, so the food can't be all that bad !

Good run today TD, but boy it was cold this morning, bet you were glad you had your gloves on !

See you out on the road soon mate.

Peter,

You have often heard me say "your health is your wealth". I have now decided to change it to "your friends are your wealth" - and you are a very rich man.

You will get through this and you will run again, just give it time.

I hope the Hail Mary's work, otherwish I'm putting in an official complaint. Love and best wishes. Charmaine

What a lovely bright photo - please also add my very best "get well" wishes to PRB. That's a lovely report TD. PRB is richly blessed with his friends and I feel confident his next op will see him on the way to a full recovery and back out there running with us again. We miss him!

All the best to Peter.

Don, you have again captured the Spirit of running. Your post demonstrates the care and concern that a runner can experience within the running community.

Don, sorry to hear the news about Peter. I have met him a few times when he has come to races with Flashduck. Wish him all the best from me. You are right, he is a real gentleman and people like him are the backbones of running clubs.
